DIY IoT (Do It Yourself Internet of Things)

Dave Putz / Connie Sieh

May Tuesday 22nd 2018 at 6:30pm - 8:30pm
Bolingbrook, Fountaindale Library, Meeting Room A

Abstract

Join us for a presentation and hands-on lab on the Internet of Things (IoT) and how to use small, inexpensive microprocessors (like the ESP8266 and Raspberry Pi) to connect sensors and other devices to the Internet or your home network. If you wish to participate in the lab please bring a notebook with version 1.8.5 or newer of the Arduino IDE installed. (https://www.arduino.cc/en/)

For those looking to find out about, get involved in or hone their skills in do it yourself projects involving low cost hardware this is an event you won't want to miss. This technology can interact with buttons, LEDs, motors, speakers, GPS units, cameras, the internet, all sorts of new 'internet of things' devices and even your smartphone or TV! Application and capabilities are limited only by your imagination.

As usual we will be having a "Meeting After the Meeting" for talk and drinks, and we are planning it to probably happen at the Rock Bottom restaurant in the Bolingbrook Promenade mall. The link goes to the restaurant's Bolingbrook website, but if you want a direct link to a map for directions use this link.
