A Brief History of Denial of Service Attacks

Viki Navratilova
Blue Meteor Inc

Tuesday August 22nd at 7:00pm
College of DuPage - K161

Abstract

This talk will be about network based denial of service attacks, starting from the basic ping flood popular 4 or 5 years ago, up to the tools used in February's much publicized attacks on the front pages of Yahoo/CNN/etc.

It will give an overview of different tools, how they work, and where they can be downloaded from, as well as tips on how to configure your network to prevent some of these tools from wreaking havoc on your network, as well as your neighbors' network.
