Abstract

This will be an update of the presentation given during UniForum's Internet Security Workshop. A discussion on the recent security and service threats and how to secure your corporate network against the them. Featuring filtering routers vs. firewalls and a how-to on packet filtering on Cisco routers. Also included will be a discussion of the recent worm attacks, including "the love bug" ILOVEYOU worm.

Speaker Bio

Mike Andrews is a Team Leader in Corporate Information Services at Ameritech in downtown Chicago. Previously Mike was Senior Technology Consultant for Ameritech Electronic Commerce. He designed and deployed the data centers and the TCP/IP extranets for EC projects including Ameritech's Regional Health Information Networks (RHINs) in several U.S cities. He has 8 years of experience in managing and securing business Internet links.

Mike has been supporting Novell and Unix servers and networks for over 12 years in a series of positions at firms including VideOcart, A.C. Nielsen, AT&T Bell Labs, (balloonist Steve) Fossett Corporation and US Robotics. He has presented on data communications topics previously at UniForum, continuing the practice started when he was a member of the Chicago Osborne Group in the 1980's. When you spotted the gold mustang with the TCP IP license plate it was Mike behind the wheel. He was probably on the way to the airport to fly his newest toy, a Piper Cherokee airplane.

Take 355 to Butterfield Rd (Rt 56). Butterfield West to Lambert Rd. Lambert Rd North to 22nd St. West on 22nd St to Lot 9 or 10 entrance. South into lot 9 or 10. Park in lot 9 or 10 and walk to the OCC (Open Campus Center) building. The meeting room is 128(c,d) which is towards the west end of the building.
