This presentation first introduces the fundamental concepts of Ruby with a particular focus on language features that are important to effectively use and understand the Ruby on Rails application framework.
Building on the basic introduction to Ruby we'll tour the Rails Way of web application development touching topics such as Active Record, Rails MVC, html, generators, and the development lifecycle.
The presentation will close with an open discussion & questions.
Tyler Jennings has been working in agile shops for several years and has developed an expertise in test-driven development of legacy code bases. He has led developer teams through the transition from traditional waterfall methodologies towards Extreme Programming's values of communication, simplicity, feedback, and courage.
Tyler has been working professionally with Ruby for several years and is involved in ongoing development of Enterprise Ruby & Rails applications. He enjoys imparting his hard-won knowledge to others by speaking at user groups, conferences, and teaching development courses.
