Tuesday July 10th 2001 at 7:00pm
College of DuPage Building OCC Room 128cd

Abstract

In today's world of GUI environments, character base professionalism has become a diminishing skill set. As people are more inclined to drag, drop, and click with icons and GUI menus, emphasis on traditional skill sets have diminished.

This presentation will demonstrate the power of regular expressions using traditional UNIX tools (awk, sed, and ex) and PERL. This presentation will prove the importance of including regular expressions in our technical skill sets.

Very useful examples will be provided which could be utilized in your UNIX environments. This includes shell programs which are useful tools for the System Administrator and Users.

Very detailed handouts will be provided to supplement the subject matter.
