Abstract

How to securely make your LAN and WAN resources including Internet/intranet, Novell and NT servers, available to your users anywhere. An overview of access servers, WAN protocols and technologies including Virtual Private Networks (VPNs); communications technologies including cellular, ISDN and the new 56Kbps modems; and a review of commercial remote access hardware and software.

Speaker Bio

Mike Andrews is Senior Technology Consultant or as he puts it, "Da Plumber" for Ameritech Electronic Commerce in downtown Chicago. He is currently involved in the design and deployment of Ameritech's Electronic Business Exchange (EBX) network for automobile manufacturers and suppliers in Detroit. He designed and deployed the LANs and WANs for Ameritech's Regional Health Information Networks (RHINs) serving several U.S cities. He is the technical contact on a Class B network and over 50 Internet domains.

Mike has has been supporting Novell and Unix systems and networks in business for 10 years in a series of network and system administration positions held since he was a Technical Support Rep for US Robotics. He has presented on technical topics since he was a member of the Chicago Osborne Group in the 1980's. When you spotted the car with the TCP IP license plate, it was Mike behind the wheel.

Take 355 to Butterfield Rd (Rt 56). Butterfield West to Lambert Rd. Lambert Rd North to 22nd St. West on 22nd St to Lot 10 entrance. South into lot 10. Park in lot 10 and walk to building K. The meeting room is 161 which is towards the East side of the building.
