Implementing vSphere

David Young

Tuesday June 26th 2012 at 7:00pm
Wheaton, Illinois Institute of Technology - Rice Campus, Room 103

You can't look around today's computing landscape without seeing references to some kind of Virtualization. There are all types, but this presentation will focus on server virtualization using vSphere.

vSphere is VMware's cloud computing virtualization operating system. We'll cover the basics of what vSphere is and how it works. Then you'll see an example of how one small business implemented a private cloud solution using vSphere, NetApp, Force10 & Dell. We'll end the presentation discussing how the business benefits, project results and lessons learned.

After seeing this presentation, you too will be able to create your own personal vSphere virtual cloud (for free!) Come see how.

Once we have finished, we will adjourn to nearby Cozymel's Mexican restaurant for food and drinks.

David J. Young has over 21 years experience as a programmer, systems, network and database administrator. He is currently the IT Director at National Cycle, a world leader in motorcycle windshield and accessories manufacturing. It is his ideal job. It combines computers and motorcycling; two of his life-long passions. When he's not on a computer, he's usually exploring a US or European twisty backroad on a motorcycle, or aggressively slicing through the trees in Michigan on a dirt bike.
