Monitoring IT systems today is challenging and stressful. One needs to be able to monitor everything - from servers, databases, application servers, middle-tier as well as nebulous things like "response time" and "user-experience". And the scope of monitoring is also quite wide, depending upon what is being monitored.
This presentation is about the presenter's quest for a flexible, extensible and easy to use open source monitoring framework. The quest was a journey through the worlds of Nagios, Cacti and a few other projects, culminating into Zabbix.
The presentation will provide an overview on the features and capabilities of Zabbix and demonstrate how it can be used to monitor a variety of products and systems. In fact Zabbix is the foundation for the presenter's line of monitoring products and solutions.
